Frequent SKU changes made a fixed case packer uneconomic, but manual packing could not hold the required rate. A vision-guided SCARA over a modular belt, with a zoned vacuum tool and recipe-driven patterns so a changeover is a screen selection rather than a tooling change.
Three machines each needed an operator standing by to load and unload short-cycle turned parts. A 6-axis robot on a pedestal between the machines, servo gripper with dual jaws for load-and-unload in one entry, plus a part-presence check before each cycle start.
Finished drums were stacked by hand at the end of two lines, which capped output at the speed of the stackers and caused regular handling damage. A four-axis palletiser on a roller in-feed, with a vacuum and clamp combination tool sized for the full drum diameter range, layer pattern software and interlocked fencing.
